PATCH 002: TAP IN NFC LAB

You tap your phone against things all day. A card reader, a poster, another phone. Most people never stop to ask what is actually happening in that half second. We are going to show you, and then you are going to build with it.

PATCH 002: NFC LAB is a hands-on night built around one small piece of technology (NFC) that turns out to do a lot more than you think.

Here is how the night goes. You start by reading tags already hidden around the room, just to see the range of what a tap can trigger. Then you write your first one: a link, a contact card, your WiFi password, whatever you want someone to get when they tap your keychain. From there we level up into automations, tags that trigger a few things at once with a single tap, the same idea behind a lot of the smart-home and business tools you have already seen. No code, the whole night.

Last, you decorate it. Keychain, laminate, stickers, whatever makes it yours. You leave with an object you built and understand, not just one you bought.

Any level is welcome. You do not need to know anything about NFC going in.
