Office Hours: Statistics, Simulations, and Mathematical Methods for Climate Tech with Nathan Geldner, PhD

Struggling with statistics? Stuck on a simulation? Mired in a math problem with your data-driven workflow? Is your predictive modeling pipeline in a pickle? Is your forecast f… faltering? Maybe you need a new model from scratch. Maybe you’re just looking for a sanity check. Maybe you’ve got a good model for stationary conditions but aren’t sure how to integrate regional climate model data to account for future conditions. Or you’ve integrated one climate projection but aren’t sure what to do about the variability across different projections. You're invited to office hours with Nathan Geldner, PhD. This is not a formal presentation, just swing by and chat to get some help with whatever modeling problem you're struggling with.

Dr. Geldner specializes in the design and analysis of statistical and computational quantitative models in support of decision-making under uncertainty. That includes “deep” uncertainty---complex uncertainties that cannot be readily characterized with a probability distribution e.g. long-term climate outcomes. Which is all a formal way of saying he translates real-world, climate-driven problems into math and statistics problems, provides solutions to those math and statistics problems, and translates those solutions back into real-world insight, all while avoiding common pitfalls might lead less rigor-obsessed analysists to be confidently incorrect.
